Architectural design is the process of planning and designing buildings or spaces to ensure they are functional, safe, and visually appealing. It involves creating layouts, drawings, and technical plans that guide construction while meeting planning regulations, building standards, and the client’s specific needs.

An architect designs and plans buildings, turning a client’s ideas into practical, buildable designs. They create layouts, drawings, and technical plans, while also helping with planning permission, building regulations, and coordinating with engineers and contractors to bring a project to life.

A house extension typically takes between 3 and 6 months to build, depending on the size, complexity, and type of extension. The full process, including design, planning permission, and approvals, can take several additional months before construction begins.
